Practice of Girl Child Marriage is reckoned as a normal behavior in the rural parts of our country. The practice is so prevalent
that it determines economic and social attributes of the family, making the girl completely inconspicuous object among her
loved ones. She...'her'childhood, 'her' health, 'her' dreams and 'her' future simply has no existence... they never have been
the priority of the family she lives in... and therefore...
Grameen Vikas Sansthan has vowed to publish a 12 page coloured offset printed calendar with photographs and sketches highlighting
the issues related to the practice of girl child marriages prevalent in the society to awaken the dormant consciousness of
people who for years have been enslaved by the customs of the traditional practice
The 38 x 50 cms calendar proposes to reach 6000 families of 30 villages of the Latur district. It would also be distributed
to key organizations, funding agencies, government offices of the district and the state.
To make this possible we appeal for your participation and contribute for the cause. We propose to publish your advertisement
of 25.5 x 6.5 cms or you can simply contribute to sponsorship worth Rs. 25000/-.per page.
While tackling the issues of child labour we came across several incidences of girl child marriage. After investigating little
further we learnt that about 58% girls are married at minor age in Marathwada region. The repercussions of early marriages
imposed on girl child not only overburdens her with marital responsibilities at early age but also affects the social, economic
and political texture of the society.
Grameen Vikas Sansthan in association with Maharashtra Foundation had implemented program to tackle issues of girl child marriage
in 30 villages of Ahmedpur taluka of Latur district.
For last two decades the organization has undertaken several development projects in Marathwada region of Maharashtra State.
It has addressed issues related to child labour, organized landless laborers, implemented watershed development programs as
well as women's development programs in Latur, Osmanabad, Parbhani, and Nanded district of the State. For more details about
